I'M A PUNK I'M A SINNER I’M LOST NEW BEGINNER I’M HALFWAYS GIVING UP Uriel had once been part of the “Vodka” clique. He had once had a conscience. He’d once been cool to those people around him that looked like punks, but really did have good hearts. Uriel had once been and had a lot of things. Not that he’d realized it when he’d had and been them. Then he’d made public that dorky talent with the Keytar. It wasn’t like his world had crumbled all at once, no; that rarely happened in real life. It just changed very slowly, and after three months, Uriel looked back and realized that he’d been abandoned by his clique. It didn’t really faze Uriel. Not much really did faze Uriel back then, before he let himself really feel, when he was still drifting around as ‘that punk kid, the one who looks like a girl, and, you know, is a clone of the rest of them?’. It took him six months away from the Vodka clique to realize who he was, and even then, he was still pretty dull, even to himself. So Uriel had thrown himself into his music, and had gotten nowhere. He still didn’t know who he was. He tried hanging out with the girls that were known as easy; tried dating a bit. That didn’t work, the girls just made him feel guilty. Guys were slightly better, not much, though. At that point, he gave up. He fell back into the music, and after calming down from the ordeal, Uriel found out that he was quite simply, quite easily Uriel. After that, things got easier for him, after he decided to simply live as he was supposed to. With this new existence came a bit of hope, though he was still ostracized by old friends and the Pina Coladas didn’t really socialize amongst themselves much because they were busy playing their instruments. So Uriel started playing mind games. This was what he was doing that day in the summer at the beach. He was playing that game with himself he’d dubbed “Wish or Real?”. I’ve got a gig sometime in the near future. Wish. I’ve got a nice place to sleep and my life’s not in immediate danger. Real. I’ve got a band to play with. Wish. I’m sitting at the beach, fully clothed, with no one to entertain me and nothing to do and no good reason to be here. Real. I could really use a cold drink right now.Real. Uriel decided to stop playing when he got annoyed with all the masochism in his head. Instead he turned to the Sudoku puzzle in his lap. He hated numbers, but it was almost mindless work and it kept his hands and half his mind busy so he couldn’t dwell on all the couples and the array of half-naked bodies on the beach. Uriel sighed, leaning back against his umbrella and running a hand through his hair. Too much. This place was too much. He needed to stop testing himself. ------------------------------------- i’m a threat to myself open i’m a get armageddon 499 i’m a freak, i’m a liar Not much to say… except… do the kids board at Carnwall year round? i'm a flirt i deny that i'm not good Lyrics belong to Cinema Bizarre’s song “Dysfunctional Family”, Thread Template made by Omnias.

YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYES© to carry out jazzyif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Nova looked out of her bedroom window toward the sun. Why was it that she was always in her house, in her room, doing nothing on such beautiful days? To one it seemed like maybe she had no friends, or her friends were in their houses as well. It wasn't really either one; it was more that she just didn't want to go outside. Her house was so nice and cool, and for the past few days the heat had been almost unbearable. For her, at least. She had heard some hell from her parents to get outside because being pent up in the house all the time wasn't good, and that she should go out and socialize more. They said she needed more 'exercise' other than writing. She sighed and turned around, looking at her medium-sized bedroom. Maybe they were right. She was getting a little tired of being alone all the time.
Maybe she should go to the park or something and meet new people. As soon as the thought originated she began to rethink it. It wasn't that she was shy, and it also wasn't that she was too outgoing, it was just that, well, people in this town sometimes didn't like it when people just went up to them. Then rumors would get started, and it just became too much drama to even have one friend out of your own clique. Nova stood there for a few more moments before going over to her dresser and pulling out a bathing suit, a beach dress, and a sunhat. She decided she was going to go to the beach and make an attempt to meet someone new.
She slipped on the bikini and then the dress. She found her flip flops under her bed and put them on. She looked in the mirror quickly and smiled as she put the sunhat on. She looked like a normal beach goer. All she needed now were sunglasses. She didn't have any, but she knew her sister did. She slid out of her room and walked down the hall silently, making sure to make no noise. She knew her mother hated when she was in her sisters' perfect room, because she wanted to keep it just that - perfect. As if one day her sister would come back, but they all knew she wouldn't. Nova opened the door and stopped, looking around. When was the last time she had even been in this room? She couldn't remember. She walked over to the dresser and found just what she was looking for. As she turned to walk back to her room, she spotted a picture of her and her sister, hugging and smiling like best friends. She smiled sadly, shutting the door as she left.
Nova grabbed a small tote bag her mother bought her last year and put her iPod, her cell, a pad of unlined and lined paper, and a few pens, pencils, and colored pencils. Might as well work on her drawing skills why she was out of the house. She grabbed her keys and walked down the steps, calling out to her mother that she was going to the beach. She walked over to her crap car, got in and started it up. She couldn't wait to get rid of that piece of junk, but for now it was better than nothing. The beach wasn't that far from her house, but she didn't really feel like walking today. She drove into a parking area for the beach five minutes later, retrieving a beach chair and a towel from the trunk. She locked the doors and began her 'search'.
There was a lot of people there, but of course that was expected. She glanced around for a moment, spotting someone under an umbrella who looked like they needed some company. Hopefully it wasn't one of the jerks from school she didn't like. She walked over, uncertain at first, not knowing what to say or how to say it. She smiled lightly over at the person. She had remembered seeing the guy around school sometimes, but only vaguely. Her head was down most of the time anyway. She set her beach chair down next to him, not too close but not too far away. She didn't want to seem pathetic. She sat down and looked over at him. "Hi," she said with a smile.

I'M A PUNK I'M A SINNER I’M LOST NEW BEGINNER I’M HALFWAYS GIVING UP Uriel sighed, settling his head on his knees. He jumped, though, when a girl walked up and sat down in a beach chair next to him. He’d given up with seeming strong or cool when he dropped the Vodka clique. His eyes went wide, and he looked more than a little startled. His throat was dry, but he choked out a response with a shaky voice. “Uhh… hi. Have I met you before? Not to sound imposing or anything, it’s just… not many people will do something like that and it really is odd. I don’t know if it’s rude or polite… oh gosh. I think I’m rambling. Er… I’m Uriel. You?” Uriel looked at her a bit nervously. She was very pretty; he’d appreciate that, even if she was female and he wanted nothing to do with her. She looked familiar; maybe from school or around town or something. He shrugged to himself. This girl is talking to me like I’m a normal person, he told himself. You are normal, a voice that used to be his conscience said softly in return. Used to being the keyword or phrase or whatever. Uriel ran idle fingers through the sand beside him. Soft. It was funny, because wasn’t glass made from sand? That sounded wrong, even in his mind; but then, Uriel never claimed to be smart. That was his little brother’s job; to be smart and become a doctor and support the family and stuff. Or something like that. After all, Uriel just knew how to play Keytar and sing. And that obviously wouldn’t get him any money if he never got a gig. Shaking his head, he rested his head on his knees again, trying not to yawn, and let his eyes flick to the other people on the beach besides him and the girl, and then back to her. She had nice eyes, but that was all he could say; he knew nothing of her personality or history. ------------------------------------- i’m a threat to myself Nova i’m a get armageddon 331 Words i’m a freak, i’m a liar Sorry for the relatively short post; it's hard to make long ones for idiot characters. i'm a flirt i deny that i'm not good Lyrics belong to Cinema Bizarre’s song “Dysfunctional Family”, Thread Template made by Omnias.

YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYES© to carry out jazzyif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Nova kept her eyes on the boy, even though she found it very difficult to keep her eyes on anyone for long. She didn't know why, that was just how she was, ever since she was little. When she got in trouble when she was a kid, if she looked at her parents, she just wanted to laugh. She summed it up to be a nervousness thing. Her eyebrows knitted together as he began to speak and she dropped her eyes. “Uhh... hi. Have I met you before? Not to sound imposing or anything, it’s just... not many people will do something like that and it really is odd..." Oh no. He thought she was weird already, and all she had said was a simple 'hi'. She started to rethink this again. Of course people would think she was weird if she just walked up and said something to them.
She glanced up at him again as he said his name. She smiled slightly, feeling a bit discouraged now. "I'm Nova," she replied in her soft voice. "And to answer your question, we haven't met before. I see you around school sometimes. I saw you here and thought I would say hi..." She smiled again. Hopefully he wouldn't completely shun her; however, she sure as hell did feel pathetic now. There was no doubt about that. Now she didn't know what to say, if to say anything. Should she just leave him alone, or what? She didn't know, and that was something she hated so much - not knowing something. She sighed to herself. Maybe this was all just a bad idea.
Nova abestmindedly played with the hem of her dress, twisting it around in her fingers. She had turned her attention to the water. It was so beautiful and clear. She didn't like salt water too much, but on certain days she would go swimming in the ocean. She thought about it today, but decided not to. She didn't trust leaving her stuff around when there were so many people occupying the beach. She took her sandals off and dug her feet into the sand, loving the feeling of the grains sliding in between her toes. She had taken her sunglasses off and placed them in her beach bag. She looked back at the boy and seemed to finally notice his features. She thought about getting out her drawing pad but decided not to. That would just make her seem more weird than she already was.
She recalled the look of surprise when she had walked up to him. The way his eyes had gone wide almost made her laugh now, but she made sure not to. Nova had wondered why he was so surprised. He wasn't bad looking or anything, but he did seem to almost give off a sort of 'I'm fine alone' vibe. She didn't like that. She always feels like someone could use someone else - especially her. Unfortunately, her friends were more of, well, acquaintances. She wondered if she gave off the same sort of vibe. That was probably why her social life sucked so much. Nova looked at the water again, moving her feet around underneath the sand.

I'M A PUNK I'M A SINNER I’M LOST NEW BEGINNER I’M HALFWAYS GIVING UP Uriel smiled at that comment about school. If he was recognizable, then that meant he wasn’t as dull as he’d always thought. The comment made Uriel immediately like the girl a bit more. He smiled softly into his knees, shrinking into his shade a bit. You’re too shy, his ex-conscience said, then it snickered, settled down, and poured itself a cup of tea. Uriel’s brows drew a tad closer together. He almost slipped up and made his reply verbally, but instead, he thought back. It’s cute, he thought to it. He didn’t really mean it. It didn’t help his personality of self-esteem any to be shy; it just made it worse. He drew his knees even closer to his body, though he did let his smile grow a bit, though it was a bit shy still. He looked at the girl, raising his head from his knees. “My name’s Uriel. Nice to meet you formally. Ex-Vodka, currently a Pina Colada. I play Keytar and I sing and you probably know my brother better than me. The science prodigy, Raphael.” He smiled at the mention of his brother, his own, and nodded to the girl. “I think I’ve seen you around before. You… write, right?” He giggled a little at the homophone use, but quickly moved back to looking at his knees because giggling was not the correct laugh for a boy his age and he knew it. The sea looked very big, he thought, very strong. A bit scary, but also very friendly. Like a big salty-breath dog or something. He let his smile fall more comfortably, but it did remain. I’m being talked to like a normal person. Real. I’m pretty happy about it, I’m not freaking out or anything. Real. Uriel dropped his legs into a more comfortable sitting position, a triumphant smile ghosting on his face and his hair pooling out around it prettily. ------------------------------------- i’m a threat to myself Nova i’m a get armageddon 317 Words i’m a freak, i’m a liar N/A i'm a flirt i deny that i'm not good Lyrics belong to Cinema Bizarre’s song “Dysfunctional Family”, Thread Template made by Omnias.

YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYES© to carry out jazzyif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP The wind blew softly, and Nova welcomed it. She hadn't been out there for long and already it seemed like her pale skin was about to burn. She forgot to bring sunscreen or put on any before she left, so she'd probably have an ugly sunburn by the time she got home later on. She shrugged to herself. Oh well. She listened as he spoke again. Ex-Vodka, now Pina Colada. She wondered why he wasn't in the Vodka clique anymore, but she knew not to ask about things like that. She knew the hard way.
Nova smiled at the mention of Raphael. Yes, she knew him. He was a nice kid. He was pretty smart, too, and was also a great writer. "He's on the newspaper staff, right?" she asked with a nod. She laughed lightly at the use of the homophone is his next sentence. "Yeah, I write." She turned a little red. Does that mean she's a nerd now? Cool, she's weird and a nerd. She shook it off and smiled over at him. "I'm Nova," she repeated. "I'm a Margarita. Which I guess means I'm a loser with no friends." She laughed slightly. She was shocked at what she had just said, but hey, it was true, right?
She sighed softly, then titled her head over at him. "So the keytar, huh? And sing? That's pretty cool. I never met anyone that played the keytar before." To be honest, she had never actually seen a keytar before, other than on TV. Music shops she went to never had them. She wondered for a moment where he got it. "I play a little bit of guitar, and I sing, as well.. to my shower head." She smiled brightly. "Is it difficult to play the keytar?" Nova asked. It's like a piano and a guitar, so it must be hard. Her parents made her take piano lessons when she was a little girl, and all she could remember was that she hated it. Her sister, Noella, had hated it too. They would act out against their teacher all the time just so they wouldn't have to play.
Guitar was a different story. She sucked at it, but she enjoyed it. She remembered playing for little brother, and he told her to stick with writing. They both had laughed. But she took his advice and kept writing. She wrote a few songs, none of which she thought were any good at all, but she tried. Even now, just like with drawing and painting, she dabbles around with the guitar. However, writing will always remain her favorite thing.
Nova watched as young kids made a sand castle over by the sea. She smiled. She remembered doing that and had a sudden urge to do so now. No, she wasn't a little kid anymore. If her mother knew she even thought about making a sand castle, that would be her head. Her parents wanted her to grow up much more faster than she should. Nova thought that was ridiculous and always remains a kid at heart. On the outside, though, she puts on the act of the most sophisticated senior one could ever meet. Sure, it's lying to herself, but if it makes her parents happy then she'll do it. They need some happiness in their lives.

I'M A PUNK I'M A SINNER I’M LOST NEW BEGINNER I’M HALFWAYS GIVING UP Uriel raised an eyebrow, taking in all she’d said. When the wind picked up he smiled. Even with the layers of sunscreen he’d made sure to coat his skin with, and with the fact he was sitting under a blanket, he’d felt like he was burning to a crisp. “He’s on the on the newspaper staff, right?" “Yeah. Not that I know too much about it. I don’t make a habit of stalking my brother or anything.” He gave a little laugh and sighed, stretching out more. This girl wasn’t too bad. She wouldn’t hurt him and she knew his brother, which made everything work out just fine. He listened to the next few things, but had to think of an appropriate response for a few seconds. “Nice to meet you, and if you’re a loser, so am I. And people usually have more friends than they think they do. Humans have this tendency to think that everything’s about them, so they take everything as a personal offense and then they think that whoever said or did it isn’t their friend anymore or something.” He decided that that was nice enough and probably wouldn’t hurt her feelings of anything. Uriel’s attention was still flicking between Nova and the people on the beach. Seriously, what was with people and pairing off? The blonde always thought that people really didn’t need other people to be happy; he was perfectly fine on his own, it was only when other people were added to the mix that he had problems. His smile soured a bit, but he shrugged it off. Society was an idiot sometimes. Such an idiot. “Keytar’s not hard. It’s just keyboard on a different angle, basically. I’m better at it than singing, honestly; I’ve been doing it longer.” He said it quietly, watching Nova. She seemed alright, and reminded Uriel a bit of his brother. He caught her looking at the children, and smiled again, because she definitely wasn’t a bad person “Kids are so cute, aren’t they?” he asked, looking at the sand castle with mild interest. It had been years since he’d done something like build a sand castle at a beach. Middle and High School tended to pressure you to constantly think about the future. What if there isn’t a future? asked his ex-conscience. Uriel couldn’t answer it; he couldn’t think of anything to respond with. ------------------------------------- i’m a threat to myself Nova i’m a get armageddon 398 Words i’m a freak, i’m a liar Uriel's turning out much more timid than I originally thought he would. i'm a flirt i deny that i'm not good Lyrics belong to Cinema Bizarre’s song “Dysfunctional Family”, Thread Template made by Omnias.

YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYES© to carry out jazzyif ten million fireflies lit upTHE WORLD AS I FELL ASLEEP Nova looked up at the sky, squinting. Clouds had begun to form in the clear sky, but it was nothing to worry about. The sun was still beating down on her mercilessly. She knew she would most definitely regret not putting any sunscreen on. Out of the things to forget to do, she would forget that. Typical. She turned her head back to Uriel as he began to speak."Humans have this tendency to think that everything’s about them, so they take everything as a personal offense..." She raised an eyebrow and smiled slowly. She liked this kid so far. He seemed pretty cool and nice, but if there was one thing she had learned from being at Carnwall was that some people were not as they seemed. You can never really tell.
But she didn't think Uriel was that kind of person. There was always the possibility she could be wrong, but so far she didn't think so. "...and then they think that whoever said or did it isn’t their friend anymore or something.” Her smile had grown full and nodded slightly. "Not going to lie, Uriel," she began, "I like the way you think." She laughed. This kid wasn't bad at all. She glanced around and nearly cringed at the half naked people flirting with each other. She didn't care they were flirting, it was their lives, it was just the fact that the people flirting with each other had probably just met. And already they would be going to the movies or something. Nova always wondered about some people, just by the look in their eyes. Who knew if this guy or that guy was a sex offender? She shook her head slightly, turning her attention back to the boy.
She nodded when he said keytar wasn't hard. She wondered if she would ever think about trying it. Probably not; a lot of things she wanted to do, she didn't. Her eyes flicked back to the kids. Their sand castle had been washed away by a wave and they had started over, laughing and throwing sand at each other. She missed those days, so much. If she could, she would stay a kid forever. They looekd so carefree and happy. Nothing to worry about. No need to worry about bills, car insurance, cell phone expenses. Things like that. All they worried about was what flavor fruit snack they wanted to eat next.
“Kids are so cute, aren’t they?” she heard him ask. Nova nodded with a smile. "Yes, they are," she replied softly. "I wish I was still a kid. They're so.. innocent." She chuckled. "They don't need to worry about the future as much. I miss that feeling." She took in a large breath, taking in salty air. She exhaled softly and smiled. The beach wasn't a bad idea today, she thought to herself. And she had made a friend. She hoped.
